Employee Relations

The Employee Relations unit maintains employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation, and morale. Essentially, Employee Relations goal is to proactively prevent and resolve problems involving individuals which arise out of or affect work situations.

What We Do

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) through Employee Relations provides consultation to supervisors on how to manage employee performance and behavior. We also provide information to employees to promote an understanding of management's goals and expectations. In addition, we provide information and resources to ensure employees meet expectations. Employees are advised about University and State policies and procedures, and about their Grievance and Appeal rights.

Grievance Policy & Procedures Administration

UNC Pembroke encourages direct communication between employees and supervisors in an attempt to address grievances in the spirit of cooperation and compromise. The Office of Human Resources - Employee Relations administers the Grievance Policy to ensure a prompt, orderly, and fair response to an employee's grievance or complaint. Employee Relations works to assure that employees have access to grievance procedures to address grievable issues rapidly and fairly, without fear of retaliation. Training for Supervisors

The Office of Human Resources offers training in the Employee Relations area, which includes required compliance training on grievance procedures, performance management, Equal Employment Opportunity, and prevention of workplace harassment.
