Native Americans in Professional Education: Achieving Success

The purpose of the proposed project, Native Americans in Professional Education: Achieving Success, is to increase the number of practicing professionals in the areas of Education, Nursing, and Other Health Professions by increasing (a) student graduation and retention rates and (b) the number of students who receive acceptable scores on pertinent standardized tests necessary for advancement within these fields of study.

This will be achieved through the development of professional area-specific Learning Enhancement Centers (LECs), which will serve to expand and strengthen tutoring and support to foster students’ scholastic success and improved performance on standardized tests, as well as through the creation of a Transfer Transition Program (TTP which will serve to connect transfer students to available campus resources and provide information and support through a Peer Mentor program.
