FAQ

What is Braves Kickoff?

The Braves Kickoff was born of the desire to offer focused time for faculty and staff to gather together as a collective body. The two-day event provides opportunity for alignment with mission, vision and values as well as valuable professional development. There will be opportunities for faculty and staff to obtain required, annual training.

Why is Braves Kickoff mandatory?

This faculty and staff event is mandatory because all employees are required to attend training sessions throughout the year, and this opportunity will provide minimal disruption during the course of our academic year. We believe it is important for all faculty and staff to gather together and have the opportunity to hear our strategic and tactical goals for the coming year from the Chancellor and senior leaders.

Is the university closed during Braves Kickoff?  How will I know if my department is closed?

UNCP is NOT CLOSED on August 10-11, 2016.  There are essential, critical departments that are always open; however, employees are required to attend the general session on Wednesday, August 10. Your respective Vice Chancellor and/or department head will inform you whether the office is closed or limited staff and services will be available during Braves Kickoff.

Please contact your supervisor for information specific to your department. Closing notifications should be posted to alert students and customers that service hours may be limited on these days.
