Applying for Financial Aid

Students wishing to apply for financial aid should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.studentaid.gov. This form determines the eligibility of students for many types of need-based aid, such as Federal Pell Grants, Federal Direct Student Loans and Work-Study. Students must be fully admitted into UNC Pembroke before they can receive a financial aid award. Most of the information on the FAFSA comes from information that the student and the parents report on their Federal Income Tax Forms. The FAFSA Application Deadlines page can assist with determining the correct Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the students will need to file based on the academic year they plan to attend.

Professional Judgment

If you have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and you or your family’s financial situation has been negatively impacted due to unusual circumstances that resulted in a significant change in your household income, you may be eligible to have your financial aid adjusted.
