Entrant must currently be a Senior in High School and will graduate from High School in Spring 2013 or be a new transfer student. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will keep records of all prospective students who attend an Admissions sponsored event or come to the UNC Pembroke campus for a structured campus visit between September 4, 2012 and May 1, 2013.
First place award is not transferrable to any current or future student. First place award includes the cost of tuition and fees at the in-state rate only and cannot exceed the student’s cost of attendance when combined with financial aid packages, private loans, payment plans, gifts, etc. or any combination thereof, if applicable.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY:
By entering, all participants and/or entrants also agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the University and their subsidiaries, representatives, and agents, and all of their respective affiliated institutions, employees, officers, directors, trustees, from and against all claims and damages or liability arising in connection with each entrant’s participation and/or entry in the Promotion and/or their receipt or use of any award won in this Promotion or due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any award or participation in any promotion-related activity or participation in this Promotion. Any and all warranties and guarantees are subject to the respective manufacturer’s terms.
First Place: Two entering fall 2013 new first-time freshmen (one male and one female) and two entering fall 2013 new transfers (one male and one female) will be awarded financial packages totaling the annual cost of in-state tuition and fees*. The award for freshmen will be a four year commitment (maximum of eight semesters or upon undergraduate graduation) and the award for transfers will be a two year commitment (maximum of four semesters or upon undergraduate graduation). Based on the 2012-2013 cost of attendance, this package’s total value for each freshman would be $19,428 (4 years X $4,857) and for each transfer it would be $9,714 (2 years X $4,857). The annual award will be adjusted yearly as needed in order to cover any rising cost of tuition and/or fees.
Second Place: Two entering fall 2013 freshmen and two entering fall 2013 transfers will be awarded second place awards of $300 bookstore vouchers to be used at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Bookstore.
*First place award will be the equivalent of in-state tuition and fees. If the winner(s) is an out-of-state student, then out-of-state tuition and fee rates will apply and the award will be applied toward the owed amount with winner(s) responsible for the difference and all payments made prior to August 27, 2013 per semester.
A random drawing will take place on May 6, 2013 and winners will be announced at that time. Award winners are responsible for all local, state, and federal taxes due. If winning entrant is under 18, then Legal Guardian or parent MUST claim award.
The Undergraduate Admissions Director will attempt to contact the potential Winner three (3) times by phone on the phone number received. If any potential Winner is unreachable, or if potential Winner does not call back within 24 hours an alternative winner will be selected.
Should a winner(s) be found ineligible at time of the drawing due to not fulfilling any of the eligibility requirement’s listed above or is unreachable, does not respond to notification attempts, or declines any award won, then an alternate winner will be selected among the eligible entries.
Additionally, should any winner of first or second place award not be enrolled at the time of August 28, 2013 s/he becomes ineligible and the award will be forwarded to an eligible alternate.
