If you’re planning to transfer, you’ve got some decisions to make. Here are some things to think about before taking the plunge.
Thinking about Pembroke? We welcome transfer students and work hard to make the transfer process go as smoothly as possible. But you’ll need to do a few things first:
Hint: You can complete an application online. Or you can print out a PDF of our application and send it in. (To view and print the UNCP application, you’ll need Adobe Reader, which you can download by clicking here.) If you have previously attended UNC Pembroke as a degree seeking student, please use the readmit application available from the Office of the Registrar at http://www.uncp.edu/registrar/forms/readmit.htm.
Once everything is in—and we mean everything—we’ll let you know your admission status as soon as possible. If you are accepted, you will receive a course-by-course evaluation of your previously completed coursework along with a General Education Checklist showing how your prior experience meets our General Education Requirements. This will tell you how your classes will transfer at UNCP.
Requirements to transfer:
1. Minimum High School Course Requirements: All students under the age of 24 by the time of enrollment are required to have passed the following high school classes**:
**Students who did not take/pass all of these high school classes are required to have a core group of transferable college courses (view 30 hour checklist), complete an Associate of Arts/Science/Fine Arts or complete the 44 hour core (view 44 hour checklist).
2. 24 transferable semester hours from a regionally accredited institution. If you have less than 24 transferable hours you must meet freshman high school GPA and SAT/ACT requirements for admission (please contact the Office of Admissions for appropriate GPA and SAT/ACT requirements).
3. 2.0 cumulative college GPA for all courses as calculated by the UNC Pembroke Undergraduate Admissions Office.
4. Student must be in good standing and eligible to return to the last school attended.
NOTE: Some academic programs at UNC Pembroke may have admissions requirements that exceed those listed above.
And please contact us if you have questions. Our admissions counselors are here to help. You can call us (910) 521.6262 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A word on transfer credits
Generally speaking, if you participated in a college transfer program and received an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Fine Arts degree, those credits should transfer. UNCP participates in the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement with the North Carolina Community College System. Courses from two-year schools outside of North Carolina are evaluated on an individual basis.
Courses taken at regionally accredited four-year colleges and universities are normally accepted with grades of "C" or higher. In cases where UNCP offers a similar course, specific course credit is given. In other cases, you will receive elective credits. We make every effort to grant specific course credit where appropriate.
