Students study
in Paris

Students taking Art 1234, The Art of Paris, during Maymester traveled to Paris, France to study art and architecture and were
guided by Dr. Tulla Lightfoot.

Students visited the expected sights, such as da Vinci's “Mona Lisa” in the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and Monet’s “Water Lily”
series in the Orangerie Museum, but they also toured lesser-known venues, including Musée Marmottan, Musée Rodin, and Sainte-Chapelle.

Guided by Dr. Lightfoot, students climbed to the top of the Arc de
Triomphe to see the layout of the ancient city, and they scaled the
narrow streets of Montmartre and Versailles using passages from her
soon to be published work, “The Spirit of Art.”

“After living for almost two weeks in a foreign country, the students came back much wiser about art and also about the world we live in,” Dr. Lightfoot said. “It was a privilege to witness the students’ transformation!”
