Although the principle reason for commisioning the biodiesel reactor is for outreach, UNCP is also dedicated to providing research opportunities for its students. Under the guidance of their faculty mentors, students engage in biofuels research pertaining to biodiesel production, application and uses of glycerol and waste wash water byproducts, and research into the production of bioethanol. The following professors are actively involved in the biofuels project, and provide research opportunities to students:
