- Interest meeting-Introduction about Chemistry club by James Evans
- Dr. Mandjiny detailed about science seminars on Thursdays at 3:40. The web address is www.chem.utk.edu
- Mandjiny announced upcoming visitors to UNCP (9/23 and 9/29)
- Also, Open house 9/25 –volunteers needed
- Tutor sessions available-Professors are willing to help students in math relating to chemistry
- Info sheet for Chemistry majors for the Department (Member Directory)
- Major goal is to help give information about chem. majors to help seniors and others figure out what they want to do with their major
- More student involvement less faculty!
- Beyond the Elements community service project introduced. October 18 and 19 from 3-6pm. Planting flowers, trees, birdhouses at local nursing home.
- Campbell University Health and Wellness Expo –talk to kids about chemistry and performing a small demonstration. October 14, 2004.
- NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. October 23, 2004. Promote field of chemistry and chemistry careers. 10-5pm.
- State Fair: Chemistry Booth. 4.5 hour blocks for volunteering at a booth. Begin at 8:45am-9:45pm. Oct 15-24, 2004. Free admission to the fair.
- SBI field trip (forensics). November 5, 2004-all day
- NC-LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate A&T University Friday October 15
- Scott Lassol at NC State-Neutron Activation Lab (Arsenic analysis, etc). Is there club interest?
- Oct 12, 2004 1:00 Kim Bullock will discuss life as a graduate student at UNC Charlotte.
- SERMACS at the research triangle. Seminars, networking. November
- Chemistry Awards for ceremony in spring. Highest GPA, community service award?
