
What is online learning?
Online learning, also referred to as web-based learning, affords learners the opportunity to complete coursework at times and places most convenient for each individual. Taking an online course does not automatically translate into less structure, fewer course requirements, or reduced responsibilities.
Students who will be the most successful in distance learning environments should exhibit the following characteristics:
- Responsible for his or her own learning
- Reliable access to the Internet
- Comfortable using computers and a working knowledge of Internet capabilities
- Ample time to dedicate to course readings and assignments
- Self-motivated
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong ability to communicate through writing
- Ability to think critically
- Understand that online learning is just as credible as traditional classes.
