Listserv Information
A listserv is an electronic mailing list. Emails sent to the listserv are automatically delivered to everyone who subscribes to it. It is a way to communicate information to a large number of people with similar interests or responsibilities.
The UNCP Mailing List Page
The public listservs for the UNCP campus are located at http://listserv.uncp.edu/mailman/listinfo. To subscribe, click on the listerv name. There you will find instructions for sending an email to that particular listserv and a form for subscribing to the listserv.
Subscribing to a Listserv
Once you have clicked on the listserv name on the UNCP mailing list page, You will see a section entitled "Subscribing to [listserv name]". Fill out the form located there. When choosing a password, do not use one that is used for logging into other accounts (such as your network password) because it may occasionally be emailed to you. If you'd rather not choose a password, you may leave the password field blank and one will be generated for you and sent to you via email. Once you have subscribed, the list owner will review your request. Once accepted, you will receive an email requesting confirmation. After confirming your membership, you will begin receiving emails that are addressed to that listserv.
Private listservs
Some listservs are private and therefore are not listed on the UNCP mailing list page. The mailing list owner can give you the information you need to subscribe to their listserv.
Unsubscribing
If you wish to no longer receive emails addressed to a certain listserv, click on the listserv name on the UNCP mailing list page. On that Listserv's information page, scroll down to the "[Listserv Name] Subscribers" section at the bottom. Enter your email address and click the "Unsubscribe or Edit Options" button. From there you will be given options to edit your settings or unsubscribe from the listserv.
Creating a New Listserv
To create a new listserv, please contact Melanie Jacobs (melanie.jacobs@uncp.edu). We will create the listserv for you, and supply additional information for managing it.
