E-mail Outage Update:

Faculty, staff and students,

The e-mail restore process continues to run on the older Webmail server. We are repeatedly experiencing delays as the verification software takes new, in-depth paths into all e-mail folders and sub-folders, indexing all the email files. The server will eventually be restored at some point in the future.

Faculty and staff impacted cannot afford to be without e-mail services. Just as we moved students to the new Bravemail system to restore service, DoIT is moving impacted faculty and staff into the new Exchange e-mail system. If you are not on the new Exchange system here is what it will mean to you. To quickly get you connected, we will have you access your e-mail using the Web through a service call Outlook Web Access or OWA for short. You will be able to send and receive e-mail and the e-mail that has been on hold will begin to be delivered. Secondly, once you get connected and are using OWA, we will create a new profile in Outlook or in your Entourage or normal e-mail software on your office computer, so you can return to using your normal e-mail software. The third and final phase will be to continue the rollout of Exchange as before. This will fully move all your stored mail on the old system to Exchange. This may take a while as it is time consuming but we have already completed this process for nearly one half of the total number of faculty and staff.

We have rallied all DoIT staff to support you in this effort. To gain access to Outlook Web Access, here are your instructions http://www.uncp.edu/doit/owa.html. If you need assistance, please call our helpdesk at 6260. DoIT staff members are standing by to assist you.
