Personal Equipment and hardware
There are three classes of student hardware for on campus.
Computers falling into the first category are treated like any piece of university equipment and can be brought directly to the DoIT Helpdesk.
Computers purchased through the UNC Pembroke bookstore are covered by their warranty and can be serviced from within our department. Any student having an issue with their computer will need to contact the bookstore to make sure their name and computer are listed in our shared support list. A student on the support list can bring their computer to the Helpdesk where we will arrange for our Apple/Dell certified technician to collect the machine for repair. Damage outside of the warranty may have a cost associated with repair.
Computers falling into the third category have no direct option for support through our department at this time. The University does provide free anti-virus for all residential students in an effort to mitigate problems from malware.
