Surviving a Brave New World, our Two-Day Orientation for Freshman and Transfer Students with Disabilities, beginning on August 13 – 15 th, is the place to be!!

We know the college game, the maze, the inside, however you want to call it – and in those two days we WILL start you off on the first steps to making your freshman experience on campus a lot less stressful! Not to mention, you get to pick your side of the dorm room. J

What’s so cool about our orientation? Well, you get to start in the “college talk” a couple of days before any other freshman gets here. You get to start the “college walk” before cars are piled up all on the sidewalks while students are unloading and the masses of students swarm around you. And, last but not least, you get to start the process of receiving your accommodations and figuring what our office is all about, and what services we can provide for you.

You’ll hear from a professor, from students, be challenged on our Leadership and Teambuilding course, and take away with you the beginning of a relationship with new friends and our office staff! Your parents/guardians need this information, too! We’ll keep them until Sunday to talk with them and you about the differences between high school and college, and the new laws that you now fall under, IDEA vs. ADA, and then send them on their way back home Sunday evening!

The first 45 to register will join us for Surviving a Brave New World! The cost is $50.00 per student, and $25.00 per parent/guardian. If you are an admitted freshman or new transfer student with a disability to UNCP and would like more information about this orientation or would like to sign up, please call (910) 521-6695.
