The smash-hit musical show that has been all around the world and is now back.
For those of you not yet converted, Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music is a screening of the classic Julie Andrews film musical in glorious, full-screen technicolor, complete with subtitles so that the whole audience can sing along!
Then of course there is the famous fancy-dress competition in which everyone who has come in costume is invited onto the stage to show off their fantastic tailoring skills.  So get those vocal chords warmed up, cut up those chintz curtains and hurry down for the perfect night out. 

Fancy dress is not obligatory but highly recommended!

The River People Music and Culture Fest returns to Givens Performing Arts Center at UNC Pembroke on March 9th and 10th. Enjoy two days of indigenous music, art and culture. March 9th includes a matinee performance, an artist showcase by the River Roots Arts Guild called “Emerging Arts Showcase” . March 10th includes the concert, the River Roots Arts Guild Art Display from the Juried Art show and a historical picture display of area church choirs.

Jackie Jacobs is the founder and principal of JTalentgroup, a Native owned full service entertainment agency specializing in Public Relations, Marketing Consulting and Talent Management services.  She is a motivational speaker and is known nationwide as the tribal publicist for the Quileute Tribe of La Push, WA
who are associated with the "TWILIGHT SAGA" phenomenon. She also worked closely with the Native actors including the Wolfpack in that franchise.

The JUngle BookThe Jungle Book

Hey! No monkeyin’ around. This August 5th at Givens Performing Arts Center join your favorite bunch of Jungle Book characters as they try to catch a tiger by the tail when the Missoula Children's Theatre and more than 50 local students present THE JUNGLE BOOK, an original musical adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale.
The local cast of THE JUNGLE BOOK includes Isabel Huesa and Jena Revels as Mowgli (the man-cub), as well as Emma Mansfield as Bagheera (the panther) and Essie Canada as Akela (the leader of the pack).  Brooke Canady, Alyssa Chavis-Wanson, Lydia Mansfield, Blythe McLellan, Kayley Johnson, Dakota Oxendine, Kaytelyn Quador, Kayleigh Creammer, Courtlyn McLellan, Destini Deese, Monica Hunt, Ayanna Thomas, Marion Chavis, Julia Huesa, Kasadie McMillian, Ciena Raine Fedor, Alyssa Desmit and Caitlan Meekins make up the entire wolf family, Ian Desmit  is featured as Shere Khan and Kari Brooks plays his sidekick Tabaqui (the jackal).  Nag and Nagaina (the cobras) are Will Canada and Emma Hale. Darzee (the bird) is played by Catarina Maggio, Mary Stephenson is featured as Hathi (the master elephant) and Isabella Oxendine performs the role of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (the mongoose). Other featured performers include Chandler Locklear, Cheyenne Oxendine, Candance Chavis, David Stephenson, Sydney Dublin, Rachel Stoner, Anthony Wiggins, Brook Taylor, Paul Britt, Katherine Park and Joshua Park as Kaa (the rock-python) and Ian Culver-Lin as Buck (a buck).  Monkeyin’ around throughout the entire show are the Monkey-People, played by Casius Carson. Mishka Malhotra, Frank Ladd, Ana Huesa, Raylen Jones, Landon Oxendine, Lizzie Williamson, Ashtyn Thomas, Ariel Bethea, Shari Inbari, Alexis Kemp, Avery Kemp, Clifton Locklear, Justice Locklear, Vincent McKenzie Locklear, Madeline Severy, Mattie Schwendeman and Alena Thomas.  Alayiya Feliciano, Grace Wilkinson, Sherri Wiggins and Zachary Barela have served as Assistant Directors all week.

GCamp Summer Camp with Missoula Children's Theatre
August 1 - 5 2011

Welcome to GCamp! the Givens Performing Arts Center’s summer camp. Children take center stage this summer at GCamp, a week-long day theatre enrichment camp for students' ages 7 to 18 located on the campus of UNC Pembroke. This performing arts camp will inspire and excite the imagination of any child.

Professional directors from Missoula Children’s Theatre instruct the students through a professional production. Students also participate in professional theatre workshops. GCamp is the arts camp that goes beyond the traditional idea of a summer camp. Our unique non-competitive and nurturing program caters to boys and girls who want to immerse themselves in the performing arts and theatre.

GCamp gives every camper a chance to sprout forth his or her own theatrical creativity while having fun during the summer.
