Three graduate students in the School of Business presented their papers at the Southeast Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) Conference, held October 1-2, at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Scott Lamm presented his paper on social networking and how it has impacted the recruiting process in terms of human resource management practices. The paper was cowritten with English education graduate student Renee Phile.
Hongwei Song presented her paper: "Transactional Cost Economics: A Model for Evaluating the Feasibility of Outsourcing in the Services Industry." The paper won second place in the graduate student paper competition.
Daanish Pestonjee presented his paper: "Personalized Stress Management: A Tool for Organizational Wellness." His paper won first place in the graduate student paper competition.
The students wrote the papers in the MBA course, "Human Resource Management," during the fall 2008 semester. They revised the papers after the course was completed so they could be submitted for review for the conference. Each paper was double-blind reviewed before it could be accepted for presentation.
