in The American Heritage College Dictionary: Using the etymology
of each word, identify its Indo-European root. Explain the relationship

different? Using this limited body of evidence and what you have learned
about the comparative method, hypothesize an Indo-European root for the
last word. Should you place an asterisk before it? Why or why not?
- foot (English)/ped- (Latin stem)
- tooth (English)/dent- (Latin stem)
- three (English)/tres (Latin)
- father (English)/pater (Latin)
- Which features of Proto-Indo-European morphology and
