The Office of A LA CART has provided a valuable service to the 16 Campuses of the University of North Carolina System for 27 years. Founded in 1970, the office was officially sanctioned by the North Carolina legislature in order to increase the productivity of the thousands of State workers serving on the UNC campuses. The goal, to eliminate reasons for office workers to escape from their dungeo... I mean offices, decreasing the amount of work accomplished.
A LA CART served only brown bag lunches at the onset but, due to increased popularity, has developed into a comprehensive catering service that delivers hot meals and snacks anywhere on campus from 7:30am to 5:00pm. Reviews from busy State workers who have way too much work to have time for a leisurely lunch have been outstanding .
