Dr. Elizabeth Maisonpierre is a Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Pembroke, NC. She teaches private piano, class piano, freshman theory and theory lab, and piano pedagogy. She has been at the University full-time since 1988. She won UNC Pembroke Teaching Awards in 1995, 2002, and 2008.

Elizabeth holds degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University (B.M. 1974), and the University of Maryland (M.M. in 1976 and D.M.A. in 1983). She has studied solo piano with Mrs. Mary Russell in Williamsport, PA, Ms. Chongyo Shin at Northfield School in Northfield, MA, Mr. Robert Lawrence at Ohio Wesleyan University, Mr. Frank Glazer at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and Dr. Stewart Gordon at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. She also has studied piano duet with Mr. Seymour Fink in Wilmington, NC, and with the team of Nancy Arganbright and Dallas Weekley during their years in Wisconsin.

Dr. Maisonpierre is a member of the College Music Society, Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and its state affiliate - North Carolina Music Teachers Association (NCMTA).

Dr. Maisonpierre came to North Carolina with her husband Jonathan in 1978 to be part of the North Carolina Visiting Artist program where she lived and performed in Columbus County, NC. From there she moved to Bladen County and eventually to Robeson County, where she served as organist and choir director at Chestnut Street United Methodist Church in Lumberton, NC.

The Maisonpierres specialize in performances of piano duets - four hands at one piano. They frequently perform duet recitals as they are eager to share their enthusiasm for the medium. They also enjoy presenting workshops to piano teachers about the benefits of teaching with duets.

Elizabeth and Jonathan live in Laurinburg, NC. She and Jonathan are the parents of two grown children and grandparents to one granddaughter.
