Oak Hall is a four story, 360-bed, smoke-free, co-ed hall offering suites of two designs. One design includes 68 suites featuring two double-occupancy bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The second design includes 22 single suites featuring four private bedrooms with a shared living room area and bathroom. Residents are expected to maintain a clean bathroom area, provide the cleaning supplies and toiletries needed for their suite.
Same gender suites are located throughout each floor of the residence hall. Students in the Honors Program are assigned to the first floor and students in the Teaching Fellow Program are assigned to an area on the second floor. A limited number of beds are available for other first year students throughout the hall.
The University's alcohol policy permits students of legal age to possess or consume alcohol only within the confines of their residence hall room. There are many reasons an individual may choose to reside in an alcohol-free environment. These reasons range from personal lifestyle preferences of culture or religious belief to desires related to recovery from personal or family abuse problems. One roommate's reason for choosing an alcohol-free area may be very similar or very different from the others'. Therefore, the first floor and the Teaching Fellows area on the second floor are designated as an alcohol-free environment. Residents are required to sign a pledge to refrain from the possession and use of alcohol on the alcohol-free floor. In addition, residents and their guests who have consumed alcohol may not return to this area until a later time.
Wireless Internet is available and the hall is fully wired for the Internet, and cable television. A computer lab, a kitchenette, study lounges on each floor, a lounge with a large screen television and cable television service, and a laundry and vending area are outstanding features of this residence hall. A security feature includes a card access system for entrance into the building for currently assigned residents and their accompanied guests.
All rooms are furnished with twin beds (80" mattresses), desks, desk chair, closets, dressers, and blinds. The single suites are furnished with a sofa, lounge chair, coffee table, and lamp table. Students are encouraged to bring accessories to personalize their room. Additionally, our residence hall rooms have local phone service, cable TV hookup, data connectivity, laundry and vending room access, access to 24-hour per day campus police coverage, and trained professional residence staff ready to assist residents. Oak Hall is equipped with central heating and air conditioning.
