In the fall of 2011, we will begin reading for Issue #44: The American South.
Pembroke Magazine accepts unsolicited poetry, fiction, translations, and essays. Please query before sending a book review or interview. As the magazine often focuses on specific writers or topics, the best way to get a sense of our unique publication is to read several issues. Back issues are available through Managing Editor Tina Emanuel, and subscription information can be found on this website.
Submissions should be typed neatly, double-spaced (for essays and short stories) on white paper. Please send one prose submission or up to four poems per mailing. Manuscripts must be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope for reply and will not be returned unless SASE includes sufficient postage. Submissions should be sent to:

Manuscripts will not be accepted during the summer months of June, July, and August. All manuscripts must be postmarked between September 1 and May 31; any submissions that arrive during the summer will be returned unread.
Pembroke Magazine prefers not to receive simultaneous submissions and does not consider work that has been published previously. Should you submit to multiple journals at once, please notify us immediately upon your acceptance elsewhere.
Due to the volume of submissions, the editors regrettably cannot respond with suggestions or comments.
Pembroke Magazine is published annually. Accepted pieces receive two gratis copies of the issue in which the work appears.
