The International Student tour the Bentonville Battlefield in Four Oaks, N.C. Oct. 31. This is the first trip programmed by the International Student Oragnization.

International students met American history by visiting a battlefield in North Carolina on Halloween day. They toured the Bentonville Battlefield in Four Oaks, N.C. on Oct. 31.

According to Qi (Larry) Liu, the president of International Student Organization, it was the first trip that was programmed by the International Student Organization. The 20 available seats for the trip were full a week early.

“The purpose of this trip is to know about American history,” said Liu.

The Battle of Bentonville was the last full-scale action of the Civil War and it was the largest ever fought in North Carolina.

The battlefield is one of the many North Carolina Historic Sites.

The students also visited a cemetery and Harper House, which was used as a hospital after watching a short video clip about the Civil War.

“It is awesome! It is better than a trip other contemporary spots or just to shop,” said international student Kim Boreum from Korea.

“I hope there are lots of opportunities to learn American history,” said Boreum.

ISO is currently planning another trip for international students to learn more about America.
