The second annual “Digital Jam Session” comes back to UNCP on March 26 and 27. The session, also known as the Digital Content Consortium “Brick and Mortar” Conference, is a valuable opportunity for all to meet and learn about working as recording artists, comic book artists, computer graphics artists, people working in video and audio recording, photography, website building and much more.

All who attend can look forward to a fun time with lots to do.

“A wide variety of seminars and workshops are planned to attract digital users of all types,” Dr. John Labadie, director and co-founder of UNCP’s Digital Academy, said in a press release.

The Digital Academy is bringing together those who share a common interest in the creative and scholarly uses of digital technologies.

“Under the banner of the Digital Academy, we are pleased to offer this valuable opportunity for education, information exchange and networking,” Labadie said. “We encourage the public to register and to join us in this digitally-focused activity featuring professionals from many fields of digital practice.”

Back in March 2003, the Media Integration project launched the first Digital Conference. The 2003 gathering was a tremendous success with presenters, participants and collaborators from six UNC sister campuses.

Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy all the digital focused activities featuring professionals from many fields of digital practice. The Digital Conference is free to all UNCP students with their ID and $14.99 for everyone else.

For more information about the conference, you may contact Margie Labadie at 522-5781 or labadiem@uncp.edu.

The “Digital Jam Session” was made possible by the support of Provost Dr. Roger Brown, Dr. Maurice Mitchell, Dr. Thomas Leach, Dr. Warren Baker, Dr. Elinor Foster and Lynda Parlett.
