The Panhellenic
Council will have their annual Spring Formal Rush from Feb. 9-13
in the U.C.
Rush is a membership drive for the three Greek organizations on
the Panhellenic Council, Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Theta Kappa
fraternity and Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity.
“Rush
gives you the opportunity to make new friends and to become part
of an organization,” Cynthia Oxendine said, who has been in
charge of Spring Rush since 1994.
There will be
a mandatory orientation on Feb. 9 at 9:30 p.m. in room 213 of the
U.C. The following nights each organization will have their own
events, including skits and theme parties.
The events will
get longer as each night goes on. Feb. 10 activities will be from
6-7:35 p.m. Feb. 11 activities will be from 6-8:35 p.m. Feb. 12
will be from 6-9:30 p.m. All of these activities will be in the
U.C.
Each Greek organization
will set up information tables in the U.C. from Feb. 2-6. During
this time students can sign up with organizations for rush events.
“The rush
events that each organization have are really fun. A lot of hard
work goes into it, but it pays off by being able to meet so many
new people,” Lauren Bell, a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, said.
“There
were approximately 30 people who came to rush last year,”
Pahnellenic Delegate Rachel Sudderth said. “Panhellenic is
hoping that more girls turn out than the last one.”
“We encourage as many people to come out. Greeks make a lot
of contributions to the community and the university,” Oxendine
said. |
