2003: A successful year for TVT Records,
hopes high for 2004
By Monte Hailey

It has been
a phenomenal year of music for TVT Records, as far as music is concerned.
The label recently
won a $132 million judgment deal against the Universal music group
and has the top five albums of 2003 on the Universal Music group’s
online library, paving the way for popular music from artists like
Nine Inch Nails, Lil John and the Eastside Boys and the Ying Yang
Twins to be downloaded by subscribers.
Top five albums
that hit it big for TVT on the Billboards Top Independent Album
Chart are “Kings of Crunk” and “Kings of Crunk
Part Two” from Lil Jon & the Eastside Boys, “Me
and My brother,” from The Ying Yang Twins with the smash hit
“Naggin’,” Dashboard Confessional’s “A
Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar” and “Crunk & Disorderly,”
the definition compilation of the “crunk” movement.
TVT has also
signed a partnership with Napster, which adds another big distributor
for its music.
The label has
also added a free-timed out catalog to its website so members can
access their favorite artist’s song from the TVT Indie label.
