Poetry Open Mic Night

By Krista Jordan
Staff Writer

Poetry Open Mic Night will be in the U.C. on Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. Admission is free and is open to all skilled poets and free stylers.

Eager writer and student, Latoya Dixon is interested in the concept of the event.

“Poetry Open Mic Night is going to be an effective way to open freshmen up and reveal some extraordinary talents out here,” Dixon said. “I believe that I will go to this open mic night simply because I love the beauty of writing and watching poetry perfomances.”

Student Kevin Whitaker said: “Poetry Open Mic Night is just a way for students to express themselves.”

Whitaker also agrees that Poetry Open Mic Night is step one for future artists to see how people react to their arts.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and represent themselves and what they enjoy the most about the art of speech.
