The hilarious
production of “Rumors” takes the stage Oct. 22-24 at
8 p.m. in GPAC.
“Rumors”
is a play about a dinner party that cooked up an imaginary meal,
which promises a full course of comic delectables.
Dr. Chet Jordan,
professor and director of theatre, is looking forward to directing
the comedy.
“The last
several shows that I have done have been serious,” Jordan
said. “I am ready to do a comedy again.”
The plot of
“Rumors” tells a story of four couples that have gathered
in a Manhattan suburb to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary
of their best friends, only to discover that the deputy mayor of
New York has been wounded by a gunshot to the ear lobe. An attempted
suicide- ‘or was it?’ -- is a question raised in the
play. A missing wife, a missing cook, a damaged car, recurring back
spasms and rumors galore add to the comedy mayhem as circumstances
get progressively more difficult when no one can remember who has
been told what about whom.
Kate Donavan,
who is playing Chris Gorman, described her character as a lawyer
who is really intelligent and who gets fed up easily by others.
Kyle Orozovich,
who is playing Ken Gorman, a lawyer, is the first one that gets
to the townhouse and has to figure out what to do about the mayor.
He tries to figure out what to tell everyone, Orozovich said.
Jordan described
“Rumors” as “a very funny show.”
Jordan’s
goal for the play is that it is delightful.
“My goal
is that it’s an enjoyable show for the audience,” Jordan
said.
