GPAC’s
2003-2004 Special Events starts off with Saturday Night Fever –
The Musical on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m.
Ticket prices
are $30 for adults and $10 for children and students.
The phenomenally
successful 1977 film inspired Saturday Night Fever, which features
songs from the legendary soundtrack by the Bee Gees.
The performance
tells of the streetwise New York City story of an ambitious, talented
Brooklyn kid named Tony Manero. Tony was a directionless, young
paint store clerk who lived only for his weekend dancing. Tony had
many problems with family relationships, no money and a lack of
opportunity, and yet he burned with a desire to achieve something
with his life.
Saturday Night
Fever is filled with hit songs that helped launch the 1970s disco-dancing
craze, including “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night
Fever,” “How Deep Is Your Love?,” “You Should
Be Dancing,” “If I Can’t Have You” and “Jive
Talkin’.”
Also incorporated
are hits “Tragedy” and “What Kind of Fool,”
as well as two songs written especially for the stage: “Immortality”
and “First and Last.”
Featuring talented
singers and dancers, Saturday Night Fever’s cast brings this
story to life. Hit disco songs make this show the perfect pick for
families and audiences of all generations.
From the crazy disco music to the big bell-bottoms, Saturday Night
Fever will have you “shaking your groove thing” long
before the end of the first scene.
So what are
you waiting for? Go get your groovy bell-bottoms and butterfly collars
on and come out to relive the 1970s.
