WNCP-TV, UNCPs
student run television station aired the show “Unleashed”
on Jan. 20, that introduced TV viewers to the band Hiddenwood. “Unleashed”
host Gary Rogers chatted with the band before their jam session
to find out about what Hiddenwood is all about.
Hiddenwood consists of front man and guitarist Chris Hand, Alexa
Mammolito as vocals, Bill Duty on Bass and Todd Adamo on Percussion.
They drove from Aberdeen, N.C. to make the set.
Together since 2001, Hiddenwood has been pleasing audiences with
their mellow yet up-beat rock sound by giving away free CDs that
are produced by their friends at Void Studio.
Hand says the group is more like a junior high clique than a band.
“We aren’t trying to change the world, we are just trying
to have some fun,” Hand said.
Hiddenwood tends to play in local clubs, revealing that their peers
and other local groups, as well as friends, inspire their sound.
The close knit band constantly jokes with one another in a family
like tease. The main joke among the band is the saying “what,
what?” To them it takes on the meaning as forget about it,
but during their set it was used in jest.
Hiddenwood may appear only about the music, but the friends go deeper
than that.
They are currently in the process of building a skate park for the
local youth in their community which the group is passionate about.
