‘Bowfire’ concert mystifies GPAC

UNCP hosted the mystical concert experience of “Bowfire” March 14 that mixed several different violinist and fiddlers from around the world and produced a diverse musical experience.
GPAC was the second stop on the “Bowfire” tour schedule, having shows up until mid-April. Listeners enjoyed styles from jazz, country, classical, bluegrass, rock and electric. The fast pace of the music and scene changes kept music flowing and the audience entertained. Being a versatile concert allows “Bowfire” to appeal to many different types of music lovers.
“I loved the performance,” audience member Henika Lloyd said. “It was a lot of talented performers on stage together.”
“Bowfire” featured Lenny Solomon, Stephane Allard, Shane Cook, George Gao, Lara St. John, Kelli Trottier, Stephanie Cadman, Bogdan Djukic, Ray Legere and Richard Wood. Other instruments were added to the selections including Bill Bridges on the guitar, Kevan McKenie on the drums and percussion, Lew Mele on bass, Bernie Senensky on piano and Wendy Solomon on the cello.
“I like that the musicians were all very versatile and diverse in the music that they play,” Ivory Bouknight said.
Lenny Soloman, one of the top performing violinists today composed and arranged many of the group pieces. The group formed in June of 2000 at Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany.
After much success they expanded and started to travel all over the world with their show. Many spectators consider it both a musical and theatrical experience.
The group has also released a debut CD with 17 tracks that has had great success in the music industry. |
