The singer/songwriter, a former student of UNCP, was greeted back by a cozy crowd of students and faculty. With pizza, punch and comfy couches, listeners gathered around the soothing sounds provided by Kerr.

Armed with a guitar, piano and harmonica, he shared his talents through various oldies, rock and self-composed tunes.

As the crowd lip-synced along with Kerr’s renditions of Dave Matthews, John Mayer, The Eagles and Joni Mitchell favorites, he smiled and joked with the audience.

While he switched between musical instruments, Kerr impressed listeners with his own pieces like “Every Night,” a story song about a girl he sees around town, but never speaks to, even though he is longing to do so.

Kerr also sang another leisure song about missing his girl entitled “Show Me a Way.”

When on-lookers passed through the U.C., one could swear they heard sounds of James Taylor coming from Kerr’s vocal set.

Kerr displayed his new self-released album during his set to allow listeners a chance to enjoy his melody long after his show.
