The lights dimmed at 8 p.m. Sept. 21., as a hush came over the crowd.
After much anticipation, Emcee Tasha Oxendine of WBTW
13 began the show. With 10 acts performing it made for a diverse
and upbeat show.
Travis Marshall
took the stage first singing an original piece followed by Marcus
and Jay Jay performing Brian
McKnight’s “Back at One.”
Siporia Wrighten
wowed the crowd with her vocals and James Clark and PJ Gadja sang
“Amazing Grace.” “The Brothers” were accompanied
by dance as they harmonized.
Robyn Baker
showed off her talent right before intermission by performing a
song that she wrote. Joey Kirk, who came in second place last year
in the show, sang midway through the show to spotlight the intermission.
Afterward the
band Bandimus hyped up the crowd with their flashy set.
Tim Sanders
kept the crowd going while his partner ran through the aisles as
the pair rapped together.
Rasae’
McClure sang Christina
Aguilera’s ballet “Beautiful,” before the
band Enemies of The Fall ended the show with a bang.
Although all
the participants showed great talent, only three left with the cash
prizes. Robyn Baker took third with $100, James Clark and PJ Gadja
left with the $150 second place prize, while “The Brothers”
claimed the first place along with $250.
Judging the
talent show was Robert Williams, Ray Boney, Cyndi Lamb and alternate
judge Brian Freeman.
Assistant Director
of Student Activities James
Bass was pleased with this year’s show. “It’s
one my favorite events. I thought it went well. I am always impressed
with the quality of talent that comes out in these shows, Bass said,
“I think some of our students could really be stars, no kidding.” |
