The National-Pan Hellenic Council sponsored the annual Pan-Showcase Nov. 10 in the University Center. The show started at 7 p.m., but at 6:15 p.m. a line was out the door of the University Center.

"This has never happened before," UNCP alumni Christina Williams said. "In my whole time here there has never been a line for the showcase," Williams said.

To start the show, host for the night, Robert Cooper, associate director of student activities, asked for a moment of silence for the late Rosa Parks.

"The show tonight is dedicated to a very special person who has passed away at the age of 92," Cooper said. "Let's have a moment of silence for Rosa Parks."

Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Inc. took the stage first with white button down shirts and ties. At the end of their show, each Alpha handed a yellow rose to a lady of their choice in the audience.

The largest group of the night was the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Inc. The Deltas, new to the campus, came back this year after a 10-year absence. Their show featured a young girl dressed in a Delta Sigma Theta outfit who seemed to be a crowd favorite.

Another crowd favorite, or favorite of the ladies, seemed to be the gentlemen of Kappa Alpha Psi. They made their way down the aisle dressed in red shirts and accompanied by candy stripped canes.

Corey Locklear visited a yearly tradition by gracefully twirling his cane for the audience.

The Kappas held tight to their label by chanting to the crowd during one of their steps, "Kappas are a girls best friend."

Brother and sister fraternity and sorority, Zeta Phi Beta and Phi Beta Sigma, took the stage last. Both organizations impressed the crowd with their strength in numbers.

The ladies of Zeta Phi Beta stepped on top of chairs, winning impressive chants from the crowd.

The night did not go without the song "Atomic Dog" being played for Omega Psi Phi fraternity to hop to.

UNCP alumni and member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, Fallon Lord said she really enjoyed the show.

“Before, they used to just step and leave the stage, now they put on a show, Lord said.”

An after party in the University Center followed the showcase. Ticket holders were admitted into the dance for $1. The dance started at 10p.m. and lasted until 1 a.m.
