Tip leads to arrest at Village Apartments

Pembroke Fire Department, Police Department and Emergency Medical Service responded to a wreck in front of Givens Performing Arts Center. The accident occurred around 2 p.m., on Feb. 12, and many students gathered to watch. Traffic was not stopped on the road because the car only blocked one lane.

On Feb. 3, 2010, Lieutenant Derrick Locklear and a fellow officer from campus police received an anonymous call at 12:15 p.m. regarding the illegal use of marijuana in the Village Apartments.

Upon entering the apartment, Lieutenant Locklear and the assisting officer were able to detect the substance.

The suspect, who appeared nervous and uneasy at the officer’s arrival, was found to possess numerous amounts of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was charged with illegal possession of marijuana. In addition to these charges, Lieutenant Locklear charged the suspect with a controlled substance violation.

Since the arrest, the suspect has appeared before the Robeson County Judicial system. The bond was set at $5,000.

There were two hit and runs reported on Feb. 4. Both incidents happened in different lots. Officers reported to both sites and filed reports.

Assault
On Feb. 6 a female student reported she was assaulted in Village Apartments. Officers responded and located the victim. The person suspected was found and was charged.

The bookstore quad area was vandalized on Feb. 7. However, officers were unable to find the suspect. The chairs, tables and trash cans were vandalized in the area.

A visitation violation charge was given to a student in Pine Hall on Feb. 8.

On Feb. 14, a student was charged with damaging property with a crowbar in Wellon’s Hall. Officers responded to the location and charged the student for the damages. The student’s parents arrived on campus and retrieved him the next day.

In lot 24 a vehicle was broken into on Feb. 16. Items were stolen out of the vehicle. A report was filed and the investigation is pending.

An unknown suspect was found panhandling in Wellon’s Hall on Feb. 17.The same suspect was seen eariler in the day.An officer picked up the suspect and restricted them from the campus.
