Opposite Extremes: Homosexual marriages are wrong

By Myra Frederick
Staff Writer

Homosexual marriages or same-sex marriages or what everyone wishes to call it is wrong, dead wrong. The law that is allowing these types of marriages to take place should not just be put on hold, as they are now, but they should be abolished and done quickly.

My colleague Tina Ray has said that same-sex marriages should be admitted and accepted on the grounds that not allowing same-sex couples to marry will just be another form of discrimination.

But is that really a legitimate reason that we should go against the Word of God (the Bible)? Not at all! It is not a legitimate reason. There is no legitimate reason for the world to go against what is written in the Bible.

The Bible clearly says that a man who sleeps with another man as if he is sleeping with a woman is an abomination before God (Leviticus 18:22). Abominations are sins that God absolutely hates or loathes and disgusts Him most. The things that are abominable before God should be the very things, that we, as people should not allow to happen.

Allowing same-sex marriages to take place in this country will bring havoc. As if this country does not already have problems.

In our pledge of allegiance, we say that we are “one nation under God.” What the law grants, reflects on us all. If we’re under God, we should be following God. If we’re following God, we should be a holy nation. If we’re a holy nation, then we should not allow those things, which are unseemly and unrighteous to happen in our nation (Romans 1:18-27).

Going back to what my colleague said about disallowing same-sex marriages would be another type of discrimination. Discrimination can be described as holding back something (freedom, money, etc.) that is rightfully due to a person for no real reason. A man is not rightfully due to another man. A man is rightfully due to a woman. A woman is not rightfully due to another woman. A woman is rightfully made and due to a man, according to the Bible.

Discrimination does not show up beside homosexuality anywhere in the Bible nor will it hold up when we, each for ourselves, go before Jesus at the time of judgment.

What’s wrong is wrong and that includes homosexuality and homosexual marriages. This country, that’s supposedly one nation under God, needs to disallow, abolish and annul all homosexual marriages.
