Water needs cleaning at the Courtyard Apartments

By Temika Bobbitt
Staff Writer

While staying in the Courtyard Apartments I noticed a small body of water as you cross the street to the first building right beside the stop sign.

It’s not exactly a beautiful lake to look at on your way to class; it’s actually a bit disturbing to think what is in there. It looks as if there is some kind of green "growth" that attracts bugs, mosquitoes and lots of trash, especially during the spring and summer rains.

Assistant Property Manager Phil Pearson said that the property did not belong to the Courtyard, although he would like to see it filled in.

He also mentioned that there had not been any complaints from the residents. I was sure I was not the only one who had noticed it so I asked some of the other residents what they thought of it.

"When I walk to class I notice it’s there, it’s not nice to look at, it’s gross and nasty" student Lauren Ames said. “I just figured after all the money the students pay someone would have done something about it by now.”
