Victim of Playstation 2® theft hopes burglar is caught soon

By Adam Fenwick

Robbery is an all too common happening on college campuses nationwide. It happens on the smallest campuses all the way up to the largest. No one really thinks that it could happen to them but when it does reality sets in. I can say that reality has finally set in on me.

Just recently my dorm room was broken into and several of my things including my AIWA® stereo and my brothers Playstation 2® were stolen. It took me several days to really grasp what exactly had happened. I felt violated in the worst way. Someone simply walked in and took what was mine, without even thinking about it.

How can a student feel comfortable leaving his or her dorm room over the weekend knowing there is a chance he or she could come back and all their valuables could be gone? Before I go any further, I want to be sure and say I am not trying to criticize the University Police. They have been doing an excellent job. They just simply cannot be everywhere at once. So by no means is this, or any such event, their fault.

The people who commit such acts have no conscience. These people think that they can simply take what they want and not get caught. Sooner or later they will get caught. It might not be in the next few months or even the next few years, but eventually it will happen. For you, I have no sympathy.

I will get over being robbed; I will eventually go out and get a new stereo and Playstation 2®. That is really not such a big deal to me. The big deal to me is the pleasure of knowing that sooner or later the person or persons who stole my things eventually will end up on the wrong side of steel bars.
