TRIADS Lab: Team - Faculty
Ph.D. My name is Dr. John Raacke. I am the Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences and an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology here at UNCP. I primarily teach courses in the area of cognitive psychology including Research Methods, Sensation and Perception, Physiological Psychology, Statistics, Psychology of Human Performance and of course Introduction to Psychology. In the past, my research has examined decision making in a number of applied areas of psychology. Recent studies have dealt with investigating expertise, team development in dynamic environments, juror decision-making, and the use of conditional probabilities. I believe in recruiting undergraduate students to participate in the research experience. After students have worked for an appropriate amount of time own my research, I encourage students to explore and develop their own research interests. Typically, I need two - three assistants and generally I required them to have taken both Statistics and Experimental Methods. Any topic in psychology can be done if a student would like to do a reading or literature review related to the field of decision making. I also encourage him/her to do some research investigating this topic in order to get a better feel for the area. If you are interested in working in the lab, stop by my office (Old Main 209 - College of Arts & Sciences' suite) and see me! (Vitae)
