Q1: Can I take course work at another institution?

A: In order to take course work at another institution you need the pre-approval of the Office of the Registrar. The UNCP catalog covers many rules and regulations about transferring credits to UNCP.

Q2: Do I need pre-approval to take a course at another institution?

A: Yes. It is important to get pre-approval so that you know your course will transfer to UNCP before taking it. There are many specific rules and regulations about what is and is not allowed to transfer.

Q3: What can I do if I have concerns about my transfer evaluation?

A: Many students that transfer to UNCP are concerned about the transfer evaluation that is provided to them by the Office of Admissions. If you have not received credit on your transfer evalution for a course from another institution that you believe is equivalent to a course that is offered here, you will need to go to the department that the course is offered in at UNCP and have the Department Chair evaluate the course. In order to do this, the Department Chair will need a course description from the institution where you took the course and preferrably a copy of the course syllabus.
