The Department of Chemistry and Physics is devoted to its mission of instilling a literate appreciation of the physical sciences in all its students; affording a solid foundation in the theory and practice of chemistry and physics to its majors; supporting the scholarship of its faculty; and providing professional expertise and service to local and regional communities.

Beyond the fulfillment of its mission, the Department earnestly pursues a vision of providing local, regional and national leadership in the development and implementation of effective instructional practices for undergraduate and graduate education in the physical sciences.
