The Biotechnology Research and Training Center (BRTC) has the mission to stimulate the transformation of knowledge through coordinated efforts into increased economic well-being of southeast North Carolina.
The core activity of the Biotechnology Center is to establish workable relations between UNC Pembroke and academic, business and local government entities to develop innovative training and research opportunities.
Specific goals of the Center are: (1) increase the number of higher-paying biotechnology jobs by increasing the availability of a trained work force and continuing dialogue with the private sector; (2) mobilize underrepresented populations in the region by providing biotechnology training; and (3) offer entrepreneurs technology, business support and connection to capital sources.
