University of North Carolina at Pembroke is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 2001 K Street NW, Third Floor North, Washington, DC 20006 USA. The program has chosen to Voluntarily Withdraw its CAATE Accreditation effective May 31st, 2023.

The MSAT program is for students interested in becoming athletic trainers. It is a professional master's degree that provides entry to the athletic training profession upon successfully challenging the Board of Certification (BOC) examination. As such, the core courses will address the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of entry-level athletic trainers. Athletic trainers are health care providers who work collaboratively with other health care providers in schools, universities, clinics, physician offices, with law enforcement, the military, etc. to prevent, evaluate, and manage injuries/illnesses in the physically active population.
Program Overview
This 65-credit program requires full-time attendance for 24 months and combines classroom and laboratory learning with clinical rotations in which students provide care to patients under the direct supervision of a preceptor.
