UNC Pembroke has selected Barnes & Noble College as its new campus bookstore provider, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the UNCP Bookstore. The transition will take effect in July 2025.
Following a comprehensive and competitive request for proposals (RFP) process launched in the fall of 2024, Barnes & Noble College emerged as the top choice to manage bookstore operations on campus. A diverse committee of students, faculty, staff and administrators carefully reviewed proposals, ultimately selecting Barnes & Noble College for its innovative approach to service, commitment to affordability and alignment with the university’s mission and values.
“We are pleased to welcome Barnes & Noble College to BraveNation,” said Gabriel Eszterhas, vice chancellor for Finance and Administration. “Their proven track record, focus on student experience and wide array of services will help enhance the campus bookstore and support our ongoing efforts to promote student success.”
Barnes & Noble College, which currently serves more than 770 colleges and universities nationwide, will manage textbook services, course materials, spirit gear and other merchandise. Their student-first philosophy and personalized service model are designed to improve access to learning resources and elevate the overall campus retail experience.
Eszterhas also expressed appreciation to Follett on behalf of the university for its years of service and partnership.“
Follett has been an important part of our campus community, supporting the academic and co-curricular needs of our students, faculty and staff," Eszterhas said. "We are grateful for their contributions to UNCP.”
Follett and Barnes & Noble College are working together to ensure a seamless transition. Additional details regarding store operations, hours and support will be shared in the coming weeks.
