UNC Pembroke recently added Matt Schnepf and Jocelyn Graham to the Chancellor’s Office executive staff.
Schnepf was hired as assistant to the chancellor for communications and research. Graham has been named executive assistant to the chancellor.
Schnepf brings 26 years of experience in communications and experience in higher education. He will oversee direct communication between Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings and all stakeholders. He will be responsible for all research, writing, and editing of the chancellor’s speeches and correspondence, while promoting and publicizing institutional actions and programs on behalf of the chancellor.
Schnepf comes to UNCP from Christopher Newport University, where he served as assistant director of communications. He served as senior publications writer and manger and oversaw the university magazine, among his many duties.
Schnepf said he is eager to help broaden the chancellor’s message to campus, the local community and across the region.
“In this role I will draw on my vast experience in higher education, particularly university marketing and communications, to meet the chancellor's needs. I look forward to coming alongside him to support his leadership at UNCP.”
Schnepf previously worked in the communications office for the College of Engineering at Purdue University. There he served as manager, writer and editor for projects promoting the college.
He holds a master’s degree in library science from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Franklin College in Indiana. Schnepf is married to Michaele. They have three children, Garrett, 24, Jacob, 22, and Olivia, 15.
Graham joined UNCP in 2017. She comes to the Chancellor’s Office from the Office of Financial Aid where she worked as a student service specialist. Prior to UNCP, she worked for Lumbee Regional Development Association and the Public Schools of Robeson County.
Graham holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from UNCP. She is a former Miss UNCP and former Miss Lumbee. She and her husband, Jonathan, live in Pembroke, with their children, Jayla, 11, and Jace, 2.
