Five students at UNC Pembroke were recently inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, an international honor society for English majors.

The 2021 inductees are Nik Bishop, Lakota Craft, Shannon Derricott, Clavaria Jeffreys and Karla Gabriela Ceja Reyes.

Their acceptance is considered a high academic achievement. To become members, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA, complete three semesters of college coursework, and two classes in English in addition to first-year composition.

The inductees organized a book sale fundraiser in September and a discussion forum for students called Roundtable on Race Relations at UNCP, held in October.

An induction ceremony was held in the Dial Humanities Building on Wednesday.
