The Women’s Empowerment Summit––held in conjunction with Women’s History Month––is a day-long experience that includes dynamic speakers, networking opportunities, information sharing and storytelling. The mission is to provide a platform for women of all ages and backgrounds to connect and feel empowered. This year's theme is "Preserving HERstory.”

Locklear, a Robeson County native, is a nationally recognized expert in federal Indian law and was the first American Indian woman to argue before the U.S. Supreme Court. Jacobson, a philanthropist, art enthusiast and author, has dedicated more than half of her life to researching, studying and lecturing on Marc Chagall, one of the 20th century’s most revered artists. In 2020, Jacobson and her late husband, Ralph, gifted the university with the Jacobson Chagall Art Research Collection.

This year’s guest speakers are Dr. Diane Prusank, Dr. Kelly Brennan, Kaye Fraley, Dr. JoAnn Chavis Lowry, Isabella Locklear, Ciera Locklear and Tonya Holy Elk.
