More than a dozen education leaders attended the School of Education’s annual superintendents’ breakfast at UNC Pembroke

More than two dozen local and regional educational leaders attended the School of Education’s annual superintendents’ breakfast at UNC Pembroke.

The meeting was held at Thomas Entrepreneurship Hub on November 29.

Participants were given updates on several initiatives, including the new Teacher Assistant to Teacher pathway program, NC Teaching Fellows, and Educator for a Day. Other discussions focused on recruitment and retention.

“UNCP is forward-thinking and consistently seeks opportunities for collaboration to assist with teacher credentialing, student interns, and talent development,” said. Dr. Marc Whichard, superintendent, Whiteville City Schools.

“They offer numerous opportunities for their K-12 stakeholder leadership partners to provide input throughout each school year. More importantly, there is overwhelming evidence that they listen and act on the articulated needs.”

  • Dr. David Goodin, superintendent, Sampson County Schools
  • Dr. Takeda LeGrand, superintendent, Scotland County Schools
