The NC Tutor Day was on September 30th. UNC-P University Writing Center peer tutors Jordan Williams, Erin Duprey, Amber Hester, Andrew Strickland, and Yuri Moore attended, along with UWC Director Brandy Brown.
After an ice-breaking event, the organizer encouraged participants to work with people from other centers to discuss the challenges they faced on their different campuses. Afterwards, students and faculty came back together as a large group to share results.
At lunch Dr. Elizabeth Carroll, who directs Appalachian's writing center, gave a key note address about the state of research in Writing Center Studies. Participants ended the day in small groups discussing projects for the upcoming SWCA conference (CFPs were due the following week.)
UWC tutors found the trip beneficial to their work. For Jordan Wiliams, the biggest highlight was getting to see and meet all the consultants from other universities. Since Dr. Brown was involved in hosting the first NC Tutor Day, she said it was "amazing to be back in NC, to see fellow directors again, and to witness how the project has grown."
