About
Professor Amy Gross joined the UNCP Department of Geology & Geography in 2008 as a Geology Lecturer, after earning her MS in Geology at UNCW. Her BS in Geology is from WVU, with an additional undergraduate degree in Economics from WV State University. She teaches Earth Science lecture and lab, Weather & Climate, Earth History, Principles of Geography, and Rocks and Minerals lecture and lab. Her research interests include Paleo-Seismology, Stratigraphy & Sedimentology, Structural Geology, and Tectonics. Professor Gross is an academic advisor, a COMPASS STEM Mentor, a Faculty Senator, and serves on two committees. She also teaches Honors Contract Courses and Independent Studies. Before joining the faculty at UNCP, she taught at Cape Fear Community College and Brunswick Community College. She has served as an editor and author for Norton Publishing. After taking several Broadcasting classes at UNCP, she is also an independent filmmaker creating Virtual Geology Field Trips. She participates in public Science outreach opportunities, after training with the Moorehead Planetarium and Science Center in Chapel Hill. Her classes are designated UNCP Safe Zone and Secular Safe Zone.
