Pregnant or Parenting | Safe@UNCP

The US Department of Education’s regulation implementing Title IX specifically prohibits discrimination against a student based on pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions. The Title IX regulation also prohibits a school from applying any rule related to a student or employee’s parental, family, or marital status that treats the student or employee differently based on their sex.

All moms and expectant moms, and mom’s significant other, are entitled to attend medical visits for both mom and baby during the pregnancy and spend time with each other upon the birth of the child.  Should there be any post-partum medical, physiological, or emotional issues for the mother or medical issues for the child that is related to the pregnancy or birth, the university will continue providing supportive measures.
